Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice

Posted by Don On June - 5 - 2009

Somewhere, in an inaccessible to ordinary mortals, is a world perverted by vice and known as the under-world. There, he must hold evil intentions evolve with impunity under the auspices of the Lord of evil, an entity located above everything and everyone. Rose in order to become vile and cruel demons, students at the academy of evil malice competing to prove to their teachers that they are the worst breed in the world has known. But neither can peg the Mao, honor student of the academy and direct descendant of the evil Lord in person. Dunce assumed, Mao had in mind to overthrow his father which is said that only a true hero could overcome. The concern is that Mao, by his absolute evil nature, knows nothing of the concepts of love and justice as sources of the power of a hero, these notions are totally abstract to him. Thus begins a story completely crazy, totally in the spirit of the productions which we were accustomed Nippon Ichi so far.

With this asset in his sleeve, Disgaea 3 has no excuse not to seduce those who had shunned the series so far, the software has not the slightest connection with previous screenplay components. Only fly in the ointment, an achievement off-putting, if not outrageous, that only fans of the series will forgive blindly at a time when the 2D/3D mix seems to have its place on a machine like the PS3. It was not until these old-school graphics that shock, but rather that the software really does not improve visual episodes compared to PS2. There are sprites of the same characters, the same effects during the fighting and the same camera problems. Because for a game that has such potential and tactical play, it is ultimately a shame to have to deal with a game too austere and angles of view as inappropriate. That said, this is the only real failure of Disgaea 3, which for the rest, more than ever delighted his audience, provided to bypass the lack of innovations in this third opus.

If we did not know, nothing could let us know that Disgaea 3 running on PS3. The app is on the visual level, the exact replica of the PS2 components, 2D sprites are, obviously inseparable from the world of Disgaea. Pity that this achievement always exceeded the same concerns readability level of camera angles, which is obviously reflected in the gameplay. On the merits, Disgaea 3 is impeccable. The richness and complexity of the game system is a goldmine for fans of the genre, and the potential is endless fun. In contrast, red and handling the problems of camera enormously detrimental to the pleasure of play besides the news are not numerous in this opus.

The longevity of a Disgaea has always been one of its great strengths, and it’s the same with this episode that we do not even succeed to make the turn in one hundred hours of play if you do not afraid to spend much time, Disgaea 3 is for you. Even if we necessarily want to bow to the genius and expertise of the team of Nippon Ichi Software, and regretted that the transition from Disgaea on PS3 is not more powerful. Exceeded the achievement and lack of innovation make this title a third opus too conventional that only fans will adopt without any hesitation. Hopefully the new public is not put off however, because with its life and its phenomenal play full of potential, Disgaea 3 is the ideal opportunity to discover the series that has the reputation of its developer.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars

Posted by Don On May - 31 - 2009

If the name Psyonix does not say anything to you, it is probably because Supersonic Cars is the first baby entirely developped by this talented team. Yet, Psyonix did the development and game design of certain games including Gears of War and the Unreal Tournament series. Radical change of direction with a game that you can get for just $ 10 on the download service offered on PS3. For this, you will access to a massive solo based on short challenges and some clashes increasingly muscular with AI and a more content oriented multi-battle but subject to a slight under-attendance. Worry, we can quickly find one or more drivers to share a moment of madness, should still not be too demanding in terms of variety of configuration on the servers.

So, what is Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars? The basic idea is to be driving small cars that are in an arena, arguing with metal ball five times their size, the aim being to push in what looks like a huge cage football to score points. To do this, simply hit the deeply ensuring care of the strike angle to eject it in the desired direction. The playground is fully enclosed in an oval form, the ball never leaves the arena and remains constantly in motion as much in demand by all participants. The fact that the vehicles and the ball are of extreme lightness allows a great gameplay, but at the same confused and imprecise. That said, it’s not about turning to frustration, this imprecision is necessary and legitimate and is the gameplay that the player will run out by the newcomer. Beyond the simple principle of pushing the ball, players must contend with some capacity such as to make single or double jump and use a boost, which recharges completely recovered through bottles on the ground. All means are good to get one on the sphere closer to the opposing goal or to prevent it from entering your own. However, it is not your only target, since it is fair game to go merrily on your opponents to break their journey and to expel the other end of the playground

Despite the presence of several maps and a little crazy side, the title remains sober in order to visually keep readability of action that easily gets lost in some groups. The animation keep the road, helped by a limitation to 8 vehicles on the screen, vehicles themselves but rather summary moving without any saccade. Supersonic Battle Cars skilfully manages to combine mechanisms drawn to different genres into a very nice mix and much less simple that it seems. Well thought out and based on careful and intuitive conducts, it offers an interesting challenge while a big impasse (voluntary?). On a radar whose effectiveness would have been greater than that of an ordinary direction arrow.

If interest will fade somewhat over the long term, betting that the state, the UFO will entertain you lovely hours, as several solo. Up to 4 playable in split screen and up to 8 online, it omits any form of multiplayer gaming, which is no longer so common, especially with a small downloadable game. Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars has a big flaw: his name. It is one of those small games that are more easily retains the qualities and fun game that provided a few small omissions and contradictions of gameplay. Fun, original, neat, it relies on very simple mechanisms in which it is the player to develop the finesse of its management and its ability to use light weight and power of his vehicle.
